The Danish grandmother has worked on ships since she was a child and has also captained ships for Seabourn, Princess Cruises and P&O Cruises. Originally scheduled to launch in December 2023, Brilliant Lady was unfortunately delayed in September 2023 due to a combination of staffing issues, supply chain problems and construction delays at the shipyard. Our most technologically advanced performance space can shapeshift into different designs, even in the round, to suit all our new production shows.
Royal Caribbean Cancels Cruises Until at Least December
Queen Anne is slated to sail throughout various regions, including the Canary Islands, British Isles, Western Mediterranean, Norwegian Fjords, Northern Europe, and Scandinavia. Other attractions here include a splash zone, ropes course, jogging track, and hammocks for those who want to hone in on the relaxation aspect of a cruise. Icon's primary purpose is to provide the ultimate family vacation, so there's truly something for everyone onboard. Like Disney Wish, Disney Treasure's big top-deck attraction will be AquaMouse, a water ride that swirls around the top of the vessel. The ship's two other main shows, "Beauty and the Beast" and "Disney Seas the Adventure," are repeats from earlier Disney ships. Also, a new Haunted Mansion-themed bar will replace the "Star Wars-" themed Hyperspace Lounge on Disney Wish.
Cruises
Cunard's first new-build ship since the launch of Queen Elizabeth in 2010, the next-generation Queen Anne will become the largest in the fleet (by passenger capacity) when it debuts in 2024. Last up, but certainly not least, the fifth ship in Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class, Wonder of the Seas will be the largest ship in the world when it debuts and is expected to offer the best that Royal Caribbean is known for, plus so much more. The adults-only ship features spaces very nearly identical to those featured on Viking Star. Viking Cruises has found a formula that works for the brand, and they’ve stuck with it, adamantly. The ship will also offer MSC Cruises’ largest water park yet, with VR-enabled water slides.
Here Are the 14 New Cruise Ships Entering Service in 2024
If you’re a cruising fan — or even an avid traveler of any type — then you already know this new cruise ship that’s been making waves in a big way (literally). The 82-passenger AmaLilia will join AmaDahlia to offer itineraries that begin with a pre-cruise stay in Cairo before joining the ship in Luxor for a roundtrip sail. Size aside, don't expect too much of Viking's award-winning formula to change. The Scandinavian design ethic will be present, along with fantastic restaurants and a thermal spa that are all included in the fare.

A sister to the 2022-built Disney Wish, the 140,000-ton vessel is offering a series of week-long cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas during its inaugural season. Continuing American Cruise Line’s Coastal Cat series, the American Liberty is set to enter service on August 15, 2024. During its maiden season, the U.S.-built cruise ship is set to offer a series of itineraries in New England and the Hudson River. Following a successful launch in 2023, Explora Journeys will launch its second luxury ship, the 922-passenger Explora II, in August 2024. Expect the same features that have wowed guests so far, including a stunning lobby bar; gorgeous pools and an array of dining options that include an unlimited raw bar in the ship's Emporium Marketplace.

Disney Treasure
The 113,000 gross ton cruise ship will offer sailings starting in May of 2024. Homeporting in Southampton, the 3,000-guest vessel will visit the Canary Islands, and also offer Mediterranean cruises, transatlantic crossings, and even Caribbean ports of call. Each of these new ships promises a unique and diverse cruising experience as the luxury cruise industry continues to evolve, and mainstream cruise ships add more bells and whistles. Closing out Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class, Utopia of the Seas will welcome guests for its inaugural cruise on July 22, 2024.
Set to spend its inaugural season in the Caribbean, the 250,800-ton vessel will take over the title of biggest cruise ship in the world from its fleet mate Wonder of the Seas. According to data from the Cruise Industry News’ Global Cruise Ship Orderbook Report, the lineup includes a diverse selection of vessels, including mega ships, premium and luxury vessels, and more. Though Celebrity’s latest addition, Celebrity Ascent, began cruising the Eastern Caribbean in December 2023, it’s close enough to include in this 2024 list of new cruise ships. It features Edge Class’s unique Infinite Balcony with its indoor/outdoor sliding window.

We recently had the chance to visit Sun Princess in the shipyard as it was being built. In the Fall of 2024, Sun Princess will then reposition to Port Everglades with cruises to the Caribbean. With the addition of Icon of the Seas and Utopia of the Seas in 2024, Royal Caribbean will increase their passenger capacity by 11,278 (at double capacity). If you want to explore a certain destination on a brand new ship, this list has you covered. Enrichment & Entertainment Beyond ExpectationsEntertainment aboard Sun Princess reaches new heights..
The first, Marquee, will be an alfresco dining venue that is also off-center, with an orientation that offers commanding views of the sea from the ship's port side. It'll be home to The Grill, Silversea's signature outdoor "hot rocks" dining venue, and also double as the ship's Spaccanapoli pizza outlet. The second venue, The Dusk Bar, will be an open-air sky bar at the back of the vessel that, like Marquee, is positioned on the port side of the ship. Other notable features of the ship will include an expanded Commodore Club observation lounge and a main pool area (The Pavilion) topped with a retractable glass roof designed to be as much a showpiece as a functional structure.
A massive center pool area, a glass-covered Sea-View Terrace with lots of sun and sweeping views, and even a two-story spa. In short, if you get bored on a ship like this, then that’s your fault — especially given that you’re only going to be aboard a few days. Guests might visit a pearl farm, or be immersed in abundant wildlife at all turns. There aren’t a lot of details about the new ship, though we do now know the name, with the cruise line returning to the convention of using constellations for names.
At the latter, which will be where The Bayou is on Disney Wish, passengers will find a menu of themed cocktails and light snacks, such as waffles. Explora 2 will initially sail in the Mediterranean before repositioning to North America for the winter. Fares start at $4,275 per person, not including taxes and fees, for a seven-night Caribbean sailing. Explora Journeys is competing in the same upscale cruise space as Seabourn and Crystal, as well as luxury lines like Viking, Silversea and The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. It's run completely separately from its sister brand, MSC Cruises, which caters to a mass-market audience. Designed for 922 passengers, the high-end vessel will be an almost identical sister to Explora 1, the line's first ship, which debuted in August.
Once the ship is completed, she will measure 236,860 gross registered tons and 1,188 feet in length, meaning that, though smaller than Icon of the Seas, she'll still be one of the largest ships in operation. The ship will hold 2,500 passengers at double occupancy (two passengers per cabin) and up to 4,000 passengers with every berth filled. Other new venues include Jumbeaux's Sweets, an ice cream parlor and candy shop inspired by Jumbeaux's Cafe in the movie "Zootopia," and Skipper Society, a new bar inspired by Disney's Jungle Cruise ride and its wisecracking skippers.
Similarly, Viking Cruises’ Viking Neptune appears next year as a small ship outfitted with all of the amenities and experiences that Viking fans appreciate. The ninth ocean-going ship in the Viking fleet, Viking Neptune will travel between Florida and California, California and England, with its inaugural sailing being a journey between Florida and England that takes a whopping 123 days. The ship is very similar to Viking’s past vessels, with all the upscale, luxurious and refined spaces and experiences that fans have come to love about the brand. In other words, just don’t expect a lot of nightlife partying or children’s entertainment. This is an adult cruise line most suited to those looking for both relaxation and transformative travel. Still, you can expect the adults-only ship to include all the same features cruisers loved about the past two Virgin Voyages ships, including tons of places to dine and drink, a bustling nightlife and wellness amenities.
